What is Y:Link?

Y:Link is a digital communication protocol. It is a proprietary technology of YPHOS used in underwater lighting since 2007. It was developed to provide extensive, lightning fast, secure and reliable communication between controllers and underwater lights. Y:Link is made to work behind the scenes ā€“ autonomously and reliably. It also is encrypted and interference-proof.

Y:Link uses simple 3-core cables for power and control, reducing the cost and difficulty of working with complex cables, while achieving much better signal transmission compared to DMX, PWM or similar technologies. There is no need to use shielded, twisted pair or hybrid cables. Simple marine-grade, 3-core cables is all you need for Y:Link to work.

Y:Link is fully compatible with DMX, 0-10V and other universal control protocols.

All Y:Link enabled lights are addressable (like in DMX) and can work with DMX-based or other similar controllers. For example, if your yacht is using a DMX main interface to control all the lights onboard, your YPHOS lights can be controlled by it too. And each light can be individually addressed as well. Please contact us for more details and instructions on how to do this.
